Jodhpurs Part 1

The origin of  Jodhpur trousers date way back to the 18th century. These trousers were first worn by Maharaja Sir Pratap Singh. This was worn only during a Polo Match.Soon most of the Polo players followed the trend .These were cut in a wing-shape and had leather patches between the knees. These became known as “Jodhpurs”.The trousers however is still worn in its original format at the traditional Jodhpury wedding till date. However the contemporary Jodhpur designs have eliminated the patches and kept the basic cut intact.

Had been looking all over the place for authentic Jodhpurs,Either they were way to expensive or not really androgynous .
So i decided if i cannot find it i will make it.
The Jodhpurs is another DIY project of mine.got hold of dads old pants and converted them :)
P.S the post with suspenders as promised .Do let me know what you guys think of this.

Skirt Dress

Bought this skirt about 4 years ago .This has a very Goan gypsy feeling which means unless i take a trip to Goa i wont be able to wear it. So decided to give the skirt a little makeover! A little nip here and a little tuck there transformed the skirt to  a tube dress which is so great for summers :) )

The most difficult part about blogging for me is clicking pictures on the road, more so because it is so difficult to find an empty lane in India! And yes, taking  pictures  is a very exciting affair here, so when people spot me on the road getting clicked, everyone’s curiousity is aroused. A few curious onlookers even wanted to know why i  was so self obsessed :-)

Is it just me or do you guys out there face something similar ?

The best thing about Hindu Temples here in India is the  vibrant colorful exterior and interior , Inspirational .
There are so many colors mixed together ,can never go wrong , just follow the walls .I have drawn most of my colorful extravaganza from these walls .
But i do often visit them for the yummy food  :-)

Jodhpurs from Jodhpur

While on a holiday i love shopping for local specialities. While in Jodhpur went hunting for the now famous Jodhpur trousers( I know every single shop in the Clock Tower market ) .Initially the local merchants were really surprised why a girl wanted to buy men’s trousers(Its predominantly worn by men).Hence all the designs i saw were designed for men.Just when i was about give up my search i ran into a local designer (Also a student of NIFT he claimed) . Finally i thought my hunt would be fruitful .However the design i found was a mere cousin of the originals, well that did not stop me from buying it because i loved it anyways and its so apt to save yourself from the torture of jeans during summer.
