Taking pictures outdoors is not easy. It’s difficult to find a nice background which is also clean and in an area where it won’t attract prying eyes. The easiest thing to do is make your own backdrop, in the privacy of your home.
Step 1: You will need two strobe stands used for mounting studio lights. Keep them at a distance depending on, whether you are taking a portrait or a landscape shot.
Step 2: Two to four file clips to hold the fabric in place. Clamps meant for this purpose in particular are available, if you don’t have them/ don’t want to invest then these file clips are an excellent alternative.
Alternatively you could also use clippers meant for hanging clothes on the clothesline.
Step 3: Pick an appropriate fabric. Printed, white, or in solid colours. Make sure it is large enough to cover the area between the stands. Vertically and horizontally. Drape the fabric around the strobe and use the file clips to hold them in place.
Voila, Background ready.
If you do not have strobe light stands, for indoors you can use a well lit doorway.Use the curtain rod of the door to host the fabric. If it’s outdoors and you have decent size clothes line, hang the fabric on it.
TIP: you could set up a fun photo-booth with friends and family using quirky backdrops.
