Aprajita introduced me to her hadcrafted kholapuri chappals over a mail. They looked really interesting so I decided to pay her a visit on a recent trip to Mumbai. Thanks to her cute little adorable daughter her home now doubles as her office space which is where we hung out along with her 2 cuddly dogs and all her Kholapuri designs.

The collection is named WeDesi and Aparajita believes Kolhapuri footwear to be the truest style symbol of India’s footwear history .The WeDesi collection in her words showcases one of a kind footwear – slip ons, wedges, flat thong sandals and more – every piece in the collection is a piece d’resistance. To add some drama, they are weaved with an element of bling bringing each footwear alive and making it a piece of art.

Lightweight and elegant, the chappals are adorned with gold cord, zari strips, pom poms and gota. Perfect for special occasions like weddings and parties. The collection also touches on simple wear which can be worn in casual soirees. She custom makes them in any way you want them too (heels , flats , stilettos, tie ups ).Take a picture to her and it’s done. So if you want to get a pair custom made then write to her here aprajita.toor@gmail.com

Aparajita started off as a jewelery technologist in UK initially then moved to home decor and footwear once she moved to India. It’s commendable to see her pulling off all of this and donning her motherly cap for her darling daughter and 2 adorable dogs.

The Kolapuris are gorgeous. They are so different from the standard Kolapuris that we know of. Hey, since you are a fashion blogger, have you heard of the Levis waterless campaign? I am really interested and I feel it is a great initiative.
