Pushkar ,located in Ajmer district of Rajasthan is a visual delight. One of the oldest existing cities in India. It’s pure exoticism in a religious way.Surprisingly calm, pristine beauty as expected. The main attraction is the Brahma temple(few exist around the world) and the Pushkar pond. As far as mythology goes it’s supposed to have formed from the tears Lord Shiva shed after the death of his wife Satti.
It’s a smorgasbord of people. Pundits, coerce unsuspecting tourists into feeding generations long gone. Hippies, junkies, photography enthusiast, tourists, touts, soul searchers, religious fanatics and not.
Has a lovely market and some cafes overlooking the lake.Ideal time being Jan-Feb. However the uberly famous Pushkar festival I have heard is a must do.
